Erling Haaland goal against Sparta Prague
Manchester City cruised to a 5-0 victory over Sparta Prague in the Champions League, placing them just behind Aston Villa and Liverpool in the European standings after three matches.
Phil Foden, who scored the opening goal for City, expressed amazement at Erling Haaland’s stunning backheel finish, which marked the team’s second goal.
Reflecting on Haaland’s brilliance, Foden joked, “I just spoke to him, and if I tried to do that, I’d pull my groin.” The goal was Haaland’s 44th in just 42 Champions League appearances, earning him praise as a “goalscoring freak.”
Pep Guardiola also praised Haaland’s strike, calling it “unbelievable” and likening it to his previous backheel goal against Borussia Dortmund.
Guardiola said, “He’s happy, he’s smiling.
It wasn’t easy for him; they defended tightly in the box with no space. I told him to be patient, and he scored two goals.
The talent he has to make a fantastic goal is extraordinary. Against Dortmund, he did it too. For normal human beings, I’d say no, it’s not usual.”
Sparta Prague’s coach, Lars Friis, could only admire Haaland’s quality.
“The boys coped with him very well until then, but what can you say? He’s world class, maybe the best striker in the world.
He just showed what we all know when he pops up with a goal like that.”
