Everton vs Newcastle Utd – Toffees to upset the Toon
Saturday night football in the Premier League heads to Goodison Park as Everton host Newcastle United.
Everton finally claimed their first league win of the season on Saturday, after six attempts.
After an early setback against Crystal Palace, going down 1-0 within ten minutes, Sean Dyche’s side rallied, with Dwight McNeil scoring twice in quick succession to secure the comeback.
This victory lifted the Toffees out of the relegation zone and up to sixteenth, a morale-boosting week for Everton on and off the pitch, especially with positive updates surrounding the club’s potential takeover.
Last week Newcastle faced Manchester City without their star striker, Alexander Isak, which might have seemed a daunting task.
Eddie Howe’s team fought back in the second half, leveling the score with Anthony Gordon’s penalty—his second goal of the season.
It was a valuable point for the Magpies, setting them up for this visit to Goodison Park.
This match has all the makings of a high-scoring encounter
. Everton have seen both teams find the net in each of their last five games, while the same has happened in Newcastle’s last six matches across all competitions.
A goal-filled contest looks likely here.
