Mugging has Bayern Munich director on edge
In a cautionary reminder for visitors in Barcelona, safeguarding personal belongings remains essential, whether one is a casual tourist or a high-profile individual in the sports industry.
Recent reports from Catalunya indicate that a member of Bayern Munich’s entourage became a victim of theft on Tuesday evening.
According to El Caso.cat, the incident occurred in the Sant Martí area, near the beach and Olympic village, when a young man approached the Bayern official.
Distracted by the scammer, the official lost a valuable branded watch, his wallet, and an iPhone 15. The thief swiftly fled the scene on foot, avoiding capture.
A police report was filed immediately after the incident.
A specialized police unit, known as Titani, is currently investigating whether this theft is linked to a notorious watch-stealing gang operating in the city.
The suspect remains unidentified, and authorities have expressed little hope of recovering the stolen items.
In other news, Barcelona is set to face Bayern Munich on Wednesday evening at 21:00 CEST at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys in Montjuïc, with both teams aiming for their second win in the Champions League.
Last season saw an increase in thefts involving motorbikes near the stadium as fans parked and made their way up the scenic ‘magic mountain.’
