Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool – Real Madrid transfer beckons?

Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future at Liverpool is under intense scrutiny as the right-back approaches the final eight months of his contract, with Real Madrid reportedly showing strong interest.

The 26-year-old’s current deal at Anfield is set to expire next summer, and he will be eligible to negotiate with foreign clubs once the January transfer window opens.

Alexander-Arnold, who featured in Liverpool’s narrow 1-0 victory against RB Leipzig on Wednesday, could leave his boyhood club on a free transfer, with Madrid emerging as the frontrunners to secure his signature.

The Spanish giants, reigning champions of Europe and La Liga, have reportedly prioritized Alexander-Arnold as their top target in a four-man shortlist for the right-back position.

This move comes in the wake of Dani Carvajal’s serious knee injury, which is expected to keep him sidelined until October 2025, increasing the urgency for Madrid to find a replacement.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot remains hopeful, insisting that Alexander-Arnold has stayed focused despite the ongoing speculation.

Slot expressed optimism that the England international might still commit to a new deal with the club.

Sky Sports pundit Tim Sherwood suggests otherwise, claiming that Alexander-Arnold’s decision is likely already made.

Sherwood advises Liverpool to shift their focus toward negotiating new contracts with other key players, such as Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, who are also nearing the end of their current deals.
